Created by faculty in Visual Arts, Interactive Media, Engineering, and Computer Science, the Multidisciplinary Minor in Design introduces students to core principles and areas of design across a wide spectrum of design fields and areas of research. Course offerings will immerse students in graphic design, interaction and web design, experimental design, rapid prototyping, digital fabrication, architecture, and more.
To complete the minor, students take at least one class from each category for a total of 4 classes (16 credits): Design Thinking; Visual Communication; and Design Electives. You can learn more below and in the 2017-2018 NYUAD Bulletin.
Design thinking refers to the creative strategies and approaches designers use to understand and solve complex problems. Students must take at least one Design Thinking course to complete the minor.

Visual Communication is the conveyance of information and ideas through visual forms. From the icons on your phone to the signs in an airport, visual communications play a powerful part in shaping our lives. Visual Communication encompasses graphic design, image generation, typography, and more. Students must take at least one Visual Communication course to complete the minor.
